More than 270,000 Cases Handled via Legal Aid across China in the First Half of 2009

    According to the National Conference of Director Generals of Departments (Bureaus) of Justice , judicial administrative organs at all levels followed the deployment of the Ministry of Justice, carried out the activity themed “Easy access to legal aid”, and implemented ten measures including setting up express service windows for the general public. As a result, in the first half of this year, more than 270,000 cases were handled via legal aid, up by 22.6% year on year.
    In the first six months, judicial administrative organs at all levels took into account of their local conditions, organized a variety of ad hoc activities such as “Fighting the financial crisis, building a strong province with prosperous people”, “ large-scale legal evaluation for  thousands of enterprises”, “hundreds of lawyers enter hundreds of businesses” and therefore making positive contributions to strengthening and improving macro regulation through legal means by the Party committees and the governments, to providing quality legal service for businesses to combat the financial tsunami, and to promoting steady and rapid economic growth.
    While trying to settle traditional civil disputes, judicial administrative organs at all levels organized various examinations and correction activities to solve disputes induced by the financial crisis in a targeted manner with positive results. In the first six months of this year, local people mediation organizations solved more than 3.1 million disputes with written agreements, and the success rate reached 96%.
